Pinpoint Test

  1. CHECK THE ADJUSTABLE PEDAL MOTOR AND CABLE INSTALLATION
    1. Check the adjustable pedal motor and cable for correct installation.

    Are the motor and cable correctly installed? 

    • Yes: GO to .
    • No: CORRECT the adjustable pedal motor installation. REFER to ACCELERATOR PEDAL removal.
  2. INSPECT FOR FOREIGN OBJECTS OR MATERIAL
    1. Inspect the adjustable brake pedal and accelerator assemblies for foreign material causing a binding condition.

    Are the pedal assemblies free from foreign material? 

    • Yes: GO to .
    • No: REMOVE the foreign material. TEST the system for normal operation.
  3. CHECK FOR VOLTAGE AT THE SCCM
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Disconnect SCCM C2414A.
    3. Measure:
      SCCM Ground

      - Ground

    Is the voltage greater than 11 volts? 

  4. CHECK THE VOLTAGE INPUT AT THE SCCM
    1. Disconnect SCCM C2414B.
    2. Measure:
      SCCM Ground

    Is the voltage greater than 11 volts? 

  5. CHECK THE SCCM LOGIC GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
    1. Measure:

    Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? 

    • Yes: GO to .
    • No: REPAIR the circuit. CLEAR the DTCs  .
  6. CHECK THE SCCM GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
    1. Measure:

    Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? 

    • Yes: GO to .
    • No: REPAIR the circuit. CLEAR the DTCs  .
  7. CHECK THE ADJUSTABLE PEDAL MOTOR CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
    1. Disconnect Adjustable Pedal Motor.
    2. Ignition ON.
    3. Measure:
      Adjustable Pedal Motor Ground

    Is any voltage present? 

    • Yes: REPAIR the affected circuit(s). CLEAR the DTCs  .
    • No: GO to .
  8. CHECK THE ADJUSTABLE PEDAL MOTOR CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
    1. Measure:
      Adjustable Pedal Motor Ground

    Are the resistances greater than 10, 000 ohms? 

    • Yes: GO to .
    • No: REPAIR the affected circuit(s). CLEAR the DTCs  .
  9. CHECK THE ADJUSTABLE PEDAL MOTOR CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
    1. Disconnect Adjustable Pedal Motor.
    2. Measure:

    Are the resistances less than 3 ohms? 

    • Yes: GO to 10  .
    • No: REPAIR the affected circuit(s). CLEAR the DTCs  .
  10. CHECK FOR SCCM OUTPUT
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Connect SCCM C2414A.
    3. Connect SCCM C2414B.
    4. NOTE: The following step uses a test light to simulate normal circuit loads. Use only the test light recommended in the Special Tools table at the beginning of this information. To avoid connector terminal damage, use the Flex Probe Kit for the test light probe connection to the vehicle, See Special Tool(s) . Do not use the test light probe directly on any connector.
      NOTE: When the adjustable pedal motor connector is disconnected, the SCCM provides voltage in 1 second intervals only, due to the open circuit in the Hall-effect sensor circuit.

    5. Press the adjustable pedal switch in the forward position and verify the test light is illuminated.
    6. Press the adjustable pedal switch in the rearward position and verify the test light is illuminated.

    Does the test light illuminate when the adjustable pedal switch is pressed in each direction? 

    • Yes: INSTALL a new brake pedal assembly. REFER to Brake Pedal and Bracket .
    • No: INSTALL a new adjustable pedal switch. REFER to Pedal Adjust Switch . CLEAR the DTCs  . REPEAT the self-test. If DTCs  B137D:18, 19 or 71 return, or if the adjustable pedals are still inoperative/do not operate correctly, GO to 11  .
  11. CHECK THE SCCM FOR CORRECT OPERATION
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Disconnect and inspect all SCCM C2414B.
    3. Repair:
      • corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
      • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
    4. Reconnect the SCCM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
    5. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present? 

    • Yes: CHECK OASIS  for any applicable TSBs  . If a TSB exists for this concern, discontinue this test and follow the TSB instructions. If no TSBs  address this concern, INSTALL a new SCCM. REFER to STEERING COLUMN CONTROL MODULE (SCCM) .
    • No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. Address the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
