Pinpoint Test
- CHECK FOR HVAC MODULE DTCs
- Ignition ON.
- Using a scan tool, perform HVAC module self-test.
Were any DTCs retrieved during the self-test?
- Yes: For DTCs
B1034:11 or B1034:13, GO to 3.
For DTCs B1038:11 or B1038:13, GO to 4.
For DTC B1038:12, GO to 6.
For all other DTCs , REFER to DTC CHART: HEATING, VENTILATION, AND AIR CONDITIONING (HVAC) MODULE - DATC .
- No: GO to 2 .
- CHECK THE TOUCHSCREEN CONTROLS OPERATION
- Start the engine.
- Select each audio and climate control function using the touchscreen controls.
Do all touchscreen controls operate?
- Yes: GO to 12 .
- No: If equipped with Premium Plus, REFER to INFORMATION AND ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM -- PREMIUM PLUS

If equipped with Sony® Sound, REFER to PINPOINT TEST W: THE TOUCHSCREEN IS INOPERATIVE OR DOES NOT OPERATE CORRECTLY .
- CHECK THE HEATER ELEMENT POWER CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN OR SHORT TO GROUND

Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Driver Seat Side Air Bag C3051.
- Disconnect: HVAC Module C228B.
- Disconnect: Driver Seat Cushion Heater Mat C364.
- Measure:
Driver Seat Cushion Heater Mat Ground C364 Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 1 CHS02 (YE/BU) - Ground Driver Seat Cushion Heater Mat HVAC Module C364 C228B Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 1 CHS02 (YE/BU) 16 CHS02 (YE/BU)
Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms between the driver seat cushion heater mat and ground; and less than 3 ohms between the driver seat cushion heater mat and the HVAC module?

- CHECK THE HEATED SEAT TEMPERATURE SENSOR CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN OR SHORT TO GROUND

- Disconnect: Driver Seat Side Air Bag C3051.
- Disconnect: HVAC Module C228B.
- Disconnect: Driver Seat Cushion Heater Mat C364.
- Measure:
Driver Seat Cushion Heater Mat Ground C364 Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 2 VHS26 (VT) - Ground Driver Seat Cushion Heater Mat HVAC Module C364 C228B Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 2 VHS26 (VT) 30 VHS26 (VT)
Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms between the driver seat cushion heater mat and ground; and less than 3 ohms between the driver seat cushion heater mat and the HVAC module?
- Yes: GO to 5 .
- No: REPAIR the circuit. GO to 13 .

- CHECK THE HEATED SEAT TEMPERATURE SENSOR RETURN CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN OR SHORT TO GROUND
- Disconnect: HVAC Module C228A.
- Measure:

Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms between the driver seat cushion heater mat and ground; and less than 3 ohms between the driver seat cushion heater mat and the HVAC module?
- CHECK THE HEATED SEAT CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE

- Disconnect: HVAC Module C228A and C228B.
- Disconnect: Driver Seat Cushion Heater Mat C364.
- Ignition ON.
- Measure:
Driver Seat Cushion Heater Mat Ground C364 Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 2 VHS26 (VT) - Ground 3 RHS05 (YE/VT) - Ground
Is any voltage present on any circuits?

- CHECK THE HEATER ELEMENT GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect: Driver Seat Backrest Heater Mat C365.
- Measure:
Driver Seat Backrest Heater Mat Ground C365 Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 2 GD904 (BK/BU) - Ground
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
- Yes: GO to 8 .
- No: REPAIR the circuit. GO to 13 .
- CHECK CUSHION HEATED SEAT MAT FOR AN OPEN OR SHORT TO GROUND
- Measure:

Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms between the driver seat cushion heater mat and ground; and between 1.2 and 2.2 ohms between the driver seat cushion heater mat pins?
- Yes: GO to 9 .
- No: INSTALL a new seat cushion heater mat. REFER to Seat Cushion Heater Mat . GO to 13 .
- Measure:
- CHECK THE BACKREST HEATED SEAT MAT FOR AN OPEN OR SHORT TO GROUND
- Measure:
Driver Seat Backrest Heater Mat Ground C365 Component Side Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 2 - - Ground Driver Seat Backrest Heater Mat Driver Seat Backrest Heater Mat C365 Component Side C365 Component Side Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 1 - 2 -
Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms between the driver seat backrest heater mat and ground; and between 1.2 and 2.2 ohms between the driver seat backrest heater mat pins?
- Yes: GO to 10 .
- No: INSTALL a new seat backrest heater mat. REFER to Seat Backrest Heater Mat . GO to 13 .
- Measure:
- CHECK FOR SHORT TO GROUND OR OPEN CIRCUIT BETWEEN THE BACKREST AND CUSHION HEATER MAT
- Measure:

Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms between the driver seat cushion heater mat and ground; and less than 3 ohms between the driver seat cushion heater mat and backrest heater mat?
- Measure:
- CHECK THE HEATED SEAT TEMPERATURE SENSOR FOR AN OPEN OR SHORT TO GROUND
- Measure:
Driver Seat Cushion Heater Mat Ground C364 Component Side Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 2 - - Ground Driver Seat Cushion Heater Mat Driver Seat Cushion Heater Mat C364 Component Side C364 Component Side Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 2 - 3 -
Is the resistance between 725 ohms and 170, 000 ohms between driver seat cushion heater mat pins; and greater than 10, 000 ohms between driver seat cushion heater mat and ground?
- Yes: GO to 12 .
- No: INSTALL a new seat cushion heater mat. REFER to Seat Cushion Heater Mat . GO to 13 .
- Measure:
- CHECK FOR CORRECT HVAC MODULE OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect and inspect all HVAC module connectors.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins as necessary
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect the HVAC module connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
- Connect: Driver Seat Cushion Heater Mat C364 (if previously disconnected).
- Connect: Driver Seat Backrest Heater Mat C365 (if previously disconnected).
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
- Yes: CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs . If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new HVAC module. REFER to HEATING VENTILATION AIR CONDITIONING (HVAC) MODULE . GO to 13 .
- No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
- CHECK FOR SRS DTCs

Ignition OFF.
- Connect: Driver Seat Side Air Bag C3051.
- Connect: Driver Seat Cushion Heater Mat C364 (if previously disconnected).
- Connect: Driver Seat Backrest Heater Mat C365 (if previously disconnected).
- Ignition ON.
- Using a scan tool, clear the RCM DTCs .
- Cycle the ignition OFF then ON.
- Using a scan tool, perform RCM self-test.
Are any RCM DTCs retrieved during self-test?
- Yes: REFER to DTC CHART: RESTRAINT CONTROL MODULE (RCM) for pinpoint test direction.
- No: The repair is complete. RETURN the vehicle to the customer.
