Pinpoint Test
- VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN
- Ignition ON.
- Verify there is an observable symptom present.
Is an observable symptom present?
- Yes: GO to 2 .
- No: The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
- CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK
- Ignition ON.
- Using a scan tool, perform the network test.
Does the BCM pass the network test?
- Yes: GO to 3 .
- No: REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE I : The Body Control Module (BCM) Does Not Respond To The Scan Tool.
- RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs
FROM THE BCM SELF-TEST
- Using a scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.
Is DTC U3003:16 or DTC U3003:17 recorded?
- Yes: For DTC U3003:16, REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE H
: DTC U3003:16.
For DTC U3003:17, REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE I : DTC U3003:17.
- No: GO to 4 .
- RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs
FROM THE LTM SELF-TEST
- Using a scan tool, perform the LTM self-test.
Is DTC B1317 or DTC B1318 recorded?
- Yes: For DTC B1317, REFER to Diagnostic Routine N: B1317 .
For DTC B1318, REFER to Diagnostic Routine O: B1318 .
- No: GO to 5 .
- RECHECK THE LTM DTCs
- Using a scan tool, clear the DTCs .
- Wait 10 seconds.
- Using a scan tool, perform the LTM self-test.
Is DTC U0140 still present?
- Yes: GO to 6 .
- No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
- CHECK FOR DTC U0140 SET IN OTHER MODULES
- Using a scan tool, clear all DTCs .
- Ignition OFF.
- Ignition ON.
- Wait 10 seconds.
- Using a scan tool, retrieve the continuous memory DTCs from all modules.
Is DTC U0140 set in the DSM or IPC?
- Yes: INSTALL a new BCM. REFER to BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) - WITH INTELLIGENT ACCESS (IA) , or BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) - WITHOUT INTELLIGENT ACCESS (IA) .
- No: INSTALL a new LTM. REFER to Liftgate/Trunk Module (LTM) .
