Pinpoint Test

  1. RECHECK THE LTM DTCs
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. Using a scan tool, perform the LTM self-test.
    3. Using a scan tool, clear the LTM DTCs  .
    4. Wait 10 seconds.
    5. Repeat the LTM self-test.

    Is DTC B1318 still present?

    1. Yes: GO to .
    2. No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to a previous low battery voltage condition.
  2. CHECK FOR CHARGING SYSTEM DTCs  IN THE PCM
    1. Using a scan tool, perform the PCM KOEO self-test.

Are any charging system DTCs set in the PCM?

    1. Yes: REFER to DTC INDEX - Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
    2. No: GO to .
  3. CHECK THE BATTERY CONDITION AND STATE OF CHARGE
    1. Check the battery condition and verify the battery is fully charged. REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE A : Battery Condition Test.

Is the battery OK and fully charged?

    1. Yes: GO to .
    2. No: CHARGE or INSTALL a new battery as necessary. REFER to BATTERY CHARGING , and BATTERY - Removal and Installation .
  4. CHECK THE LTM VOLTAGE (VBAT_#1) AND (VBAT_#2) PIDs
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. Measure and record the voltage at the battery.
    3. Using a scan tool, view LTM PIDs  .
    4. Monitor the LTM voltage PIDs  (VBAT_#1) and (VBAT_#2).

Are the PID voltages within 0.2 volt of the recorded battery voltage?

    1. Yes: GO to  7.
    2. No: GO to .
  5. CHECK THE LTM VOLTAGE SUPPLY
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Disconnect: LTM C4174A.
    3. Measure:
      LTM Ground
      G08038103
      G08038102
      C4174A Ground
Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit
      4 SBB07 (WH/RD)
      G08038104
      - Ground
      9 SBP09 (RD)
      G08038105
      - Ground

Are the voltages within 0.2 volt of the recorded battery voltage?

    1. Yes: GO to .
    2. No: REPAIR the circuit in question for high resistance.
  6. CHECK THE LTM GROUND CIRCUIT
    1. Measure:
      LTM Ground
      G08038107
      G08038106
      C4174A Ground
Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit
      1 GD349 (BK/GY)
      G08038108
      - Ground

Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?

    1. Yes: GO to .
    2. No: REPAIR the circuit for high resistance.
  7. CHECK FOR CORRECT LTM OPERATION
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Disconnect and inspect all LTM connectors.
    3. Repair:
      • corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
      • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
    4. Reconnect all the LTM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
    5. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present?

    1. Yes: CHECK OASIS  for any applicable TSBs  . If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs  address this concern, INSTALL a new LTM. REFER to Liftgate/Trunk Module (LTM) .
    2. No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
