Pinpoint Test
- CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE POSITION SENSOR
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Power Liftgate Motor.
- Ignition ON.
- Measure:
Power Liftgate Motor Power Liftgate Motor C4223 C4223 Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 2 CPR55 (GN/BU) 3 RPR55 (WH/BU)
Is the voltage approximately 5 volts?
- Yes: GO to 5.
- No: GO to 2 .
- CHECK THE POSITION SENSOR VOLTAGE CIRCUIT
- Measure:
Power Liftgate Motor Ground C4223 Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 2 CPR55 (GN/BU) - Ground
Is the voltage approximately 5 volts?
- Yes: GO to 4.
- No: GO to 3 .
- Measure:
- CHECK THE POSITION SENSOR VOLTAGE CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN OR SHORT TO GROUND
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: LTM C4174B.
- Measure:
LTM Power Liftgate Motor C4174B C4223 Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 19 CPR55 (GN/BU) 2 CPR55 (GN/BU) LTM Ground C4174B Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 19 CPR55 (GN/BU) - Ground
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms between LTM and power liftgate motor; and greater than 10, 000 ohms between LTM and ground?
- Yes: GO to 9.
- No: REPAIR the circuit.
- CHECK THE POSITION SENSOR RETURN CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: LTM C4174B.
- Measure:
LTM Power Liftgate Motor C4174B C4223 Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 20 RPR55 (WH/BU) 3 RPR55 (WH/BU)
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
- Yes: GO to 9.
- No: REPAIR the circuit.
- CHECK THE POSITION SENSOR CIRCUITS FOR REFERENCE VOLTAGE
- Ignition ON.
- Measure:
Power Liftgate Motor Ground C4223 Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 5 VPR53 (BU/WH) - Ground 6 VPR54 (BU/BN) - Ground
Are the voltages approximately 5 volts?
- Yes: INSTALL a new power liftgate motor. REFER to Power Liftgate Motor .
- No: GO to 6 .
- CHECK THE POSITION SENSOR CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: LTM C4174B.
- Measure:
LTM Power Liftgate Motor C4174B C4223 Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 7 VPR53 (BU/WH) 5 VPR53 (BU/WH) 8 VPR54 (BU/BN) 6 VPR54 (BU/BN)
Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?
- Yes: GO to 7 .
- No: REPAIR the circuit in question.
- CHECK THE POSITION SENSOR CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Ignition ON.
- Measure:
Power Liftgate Motor Ground C4223 Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 5 VPR53 (BU/WH) - Ground 6 VPR54 (BU/BN) - Ground
Is any voltage present?
- Yes: REPAIR the circuit in question.
- No: GO to 8 .
- CHECK THE POSITION SENSOR CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Measure:
Power Liftgate Motor Ground C4223 Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Ground 5 VPR53 (BU/WH) - Ground 6 VPR54 (BU/BN) - Ground
Are the resistances greater than 10, 000 ohms?
- Yes: GO to 9 .
- No: REPAIR the circuit in question.
- Measure:
- CHECK FOR CORRECT LTM OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect and inspect all LTM connectors.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect all the LTM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
- Yes: CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs . If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new LTM. REFER to Liftgate/Trunk Module (LTM) .
- No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
