Pinpoint Test

  1. RETRIEVE THE DTCs  FROM THE LTM
    1. Using a scan tool, perform the LTM self-test.

Is DTC B117C the only DTC present?

    1. Yes: GO to .
    2. No: DIAGNOSE all other LTM DTCs  first. REFER to DTC Chart: Liftgate or Trunk Module (LTM) .
  2. CHECK THE SECTOR GEAR SWITCH INPUT CIRCUITS FOR VOLTAGE
    1. Disconnect: Power Liftgate Latch.
    2. Ignition ON.
    3. Measure:
      Power Liftgate Latch Assembly Ground
      G08038036
      G08038037
      C4339 Ground
Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit
      6 CPR67 (VT)
      G08038038
      - Ground
      4 CPR68 (YE)
      G08038039
      - Ground

Are the voltages greater than 11 volts?

    1. Yes: INSTALL a new power liftgate latch. REFER to LIFTGATE LATCH . CLEAR the DTCs  . REPEAT the LTM self-test.

If DTC B117C returns, GO to  5.

    2. No: GO to .
  3. CHECK THE SECTOR GEAR SWITCH INPUT CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Disconnect: LTM C4174B.
    3. Measure:
      LTM Ground
      G08038040
      G08038041
      C4174B Ground
Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit
      13 CPR67 (VT)
      G08038042
      - Ground
      2 CPR68 (YE)
      G08038043
      - Ground

Are the resistances greater than 10, 000 ohms?

    1. Yes: GO to .
    2. No: REPAIR the circuit in question.
  4. CHECK THE SECTOR GEAR SWITCH INPUT CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
    1. Measure:
      LTM Power Liftgate Chime
      G08038044
      G08038045
      C4174B C4339
Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit
      13 CPR67 (VT)
      G08038046
      6 CPR67 (VT)
      2 CPR68 (YE)
      G08038047
      4 CPR68 (YE)

Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?

    1. Yes: INSTALL a new power liftgate latch. REFER to LIFTGATE LATCH . CLEAR the DTCs  . REPEAT the LTM self-test.

IF DTC B117C returns, GO to .

    2. No: REPAIR the circuit in question.
  5. CHECK FOR CORRECT LTM OPERATION
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Disconnect and inspect all LTM connectors.
    3. Repair:
      • corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
      • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
    4. Reconnect all the LTM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
    5. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present?

    1. Yes: CHECK OASIS  for any applicable TSBs  . If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs  address this concern, INSTALL a new LTM. REFER to Liftgate/Trunk Module (LTM) .
    2. No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
