Pinpoint Test

  1. CHECK FOR ANY LOOSE COMPONENTS
    1. Remove the door trim panel. REFER to DOOR TRIM PANEL - FRONT , or DOOR TRIM PANEL - REAR .
    2. Inspect inside the door for any loose components.

    Are there any loose components inside the door? 

    • Yes: REPAIR as necessary.
    • No: GO to .
  2. CHECK THE STRIKER ADJUSTMENT
    1. Check the adjustment of the striker. REFER to DOOR ALIGNMENT - FRONT , or REFER to DOOR ALIGNMENT - REAR .

    Is the striker adjusted correctly? 

    • Yes: GO to .
    • No: ADJUST the striker as necessary.
  3. CHECK THE DOOR ALIGNMENT
    1. Check the alignment of the door. REFER to DOOR ALIGNMENT - FRONT , or REFER to DOOR ALIGNMENT - REAR .

    Is the door aligned correctly? 

    • Yes: GO to .
    • No: ADJUST the door as necessary.
  4. CHECK THE LATCH OPERATION AFTER LUBRICATION
    1. Lubricate the door latch. REFER to Latch Lubrication .
    2. Using a screwdriver, fully close the latch (2 clicks).
    3. Operate the door latch and listen for the noise.

    Is the original noise still present after the latch is lubricated? 

    • Yes: INSTALL a new door latch. REFER to Front Door Latch , or REFER to Rear Door Latch .
    • No: The concern was caused by an insufficiently lubricated door latch.
