Pinpoint Test
- CHECK THE RKE OPERATION
- Press the unlock button on an IA key.
Does the driver door unlock?
- Yes: GO to 2 .
- No: REFER to Diagnostic Routine J: The Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) Transmitter Is Inoperative .
- CHECK THE POWER LIFTGATE OPERATION
- Press the interior power liftgate switch.
Does the power liftgate open?
- Yes: GO to 3 .
- No: REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE A : The Power Liftgate Is Inoperative.
- CHECK THE IA KEY
- Place the IA key on the center console and start the engine.
Does the engine start?
- Yes: GO to 4 .
- No: REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE E : The Engine Does Not Start or Unable To Turn Ignition On.
- CARRY OUT A NETWORK TEST
- Using a scan tool, perform the network test.
Does the RFA module and LTM pass the network test?
- Yes: GO to 5 .
- No:
REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE N : The Liftgate Trunk Module (LTM) Does Not Respond To The Scan Tool, or
REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE Z : The Remote Function Actuator (RFA) Module Does Not Respond To The Scan Tool.
- RETRIEVE THE RFA MODULE DTCs
FROM THE SELF-TEST
- Using a scan tool, perform the RFA module self-test.
Is DTC B113E:11 present?
- Yes: GO to 6 .
- No: GO to 8.
- CHECK THE LIFTGATE RELEASE SWITCH FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Disconnect: Liftgate Release Switch.
- Using a scan tool, clear the RFA module DTCs .
- Using a scan tool, perform the RFA module self-test.
Is DTC B113E:11 retrieved again?
- Yes: GO to 7 .
- No: INSTALL a new exterior liftgate release switch. REFER to Liftgate Release Switch .
- CHECK THE LIFTGATE RELEASE SWITCH INPUT CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: RFA Module C2153B.
- Measure:
Liftgate Release Switch Ground C4216 Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 2 CPL45 (BN) - Ground
Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms?
- Yes: GO to 17.
- No: REPAIR the circuit.
- CHECK THE RFA MODULE EXTERNAL TRUNK SWITCH (Trunk_Ext_Sw) PID
- Using a scan tool, view RFA module PIDs .
- Press the liftgate release switch while monitoring the RFA module PID Trunk_Ext_Sw.
Does the PID indicate the switch is being pressed?
- Yes: GO to 12.
- No: GO to 9 .
- CHECK THE EXTERIOR LIFTGATE RELEASE SWITCH
- Disconnect: Liftgate Release Switch.
- Using a scan tool, view RFA module PIDs .
- Monitor the RFA module PID Trunk_Ext_Sw.
- Connect a fused jumper wire:
Liftgate Release Switch Liftgate Release Switch C4216 C4216 Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 2 CPL45 (BN) 1 GD349 (BK/GY)
Does the PID indicate that the switch is being pressed?
- Yes: REMOVE the jumper wire. INSTALL a new exterior liftgate release switch. REFER to Liftgate Release Switch .
- No: REMOVE the jumper wire. GO to 10 .
- CHECK THE LIFTGATE RELEASE SWITCH GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Using a scan tool, view RFA module PIDs .
- Monitor the RFA module PID Trunk_Ext_Sw.
- Connect a fused jumper wire:
Liftgate Release Switch Ground C4216 Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 2 CPL45 (BN) - Ground
Does the PID indicate that the switch is being pressed?
- Yes: REMOVE the jumper wire. REPAIR the circuit.
- No: REMOVE the jumper wire. GO to 11 .
- CHECK THE LIFTGATE RELEASE SWITCH INPUT CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: RFA Module C2153B.
- Measure:
Liftgate Release Switch RFA Module C4216 C2153B Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 2 CPL45 (BN) 4 CPL45 (BN)
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
- Yes: GO to 17.
- No: REPAIR the circuit.
- CHECK THE LIFTGATE IA ANTENNA
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Liftgate IA Antenna.
- Measure:
Liftgate IA Antenna Liftgate IA Antenna C4082 (component side) C4082 (component side) Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 1 - 2 -
Is the resistance between 0.3 and 0.6 ohms?
- Yes: GO to 13 .
- No: INSTALL a new liftgate IA antenna. REFER to Liftgate Intelligent Access (IA) Antenna .
- CHECK THE LIFTGATE IA ANTENNA CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Disconnect: RFA Module C2153A.
- Ignition ON.
- Measure:
Liftgate IA Antenna Ground C4082 Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 1 VPK07 (VT) - Ground 2 RPK07 (GN/OG) - Ground
Is any voltage present?
- Yes: REPAIR the affected circuit.
- No: GO to 14 .
- CHECK THE LIFTGATE IA ANTENNA CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Ignition OFF.
- Measure:
Liftgate IA Antenna Ground C4082 Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 1 VPK07 (VT) - Ground 2 RPK07 (GN/OG) - Ground
Are the resistances greater than 10, 000 ohms?
- Yes: GO to 15 .
- No: REPAIR the affected circuit.
- CHECK THE LIFTGATE IA ANTENNA CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO EACH OTHER
- Measure:
Liftgate IA Antenna Liftgate IA Antenna C4082 C4082 Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 1 VPK07 (VT) 2 RPK07 (GN/OG)
Are the resistances greater than 10, 000 ohms?
- Yes: GO to 16 .
- No: REPAIR the circuits.
- Measure:
- CHECK THE LIFTGATE IA ANTENNA CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
- Measure:
Liftgate IA Antenna RFA Module C4082 C2153A Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 1 VPK07 (VT) 15 VPK07 (VT) 2 RPK07 (GN/OG) 16 RPK07 (GN/OG)
Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?
- Yes: GO to 17 .
- No: REPAIR the affected circuit.
- Measure:
- CHECK FOR CORRECT RFA MODULE OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect and inspect all RFA module connectors.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect all RFA module connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
- Yes: CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs . If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new RFA module. REFER to REMOTE FUNCTION ACTUATOR (RFA) MODULE .
- No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
