Pinpoint Test
- CHECK THE RKE OPERATION
- Press the unlock button on an IA key.
Does the driver door unlock?
- Yes: GO to 2 .
- No: REFER to Diagnostic Routine J: The Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) Transmitter Is Inoperative .
- CHECK THE DOOR LOCK OPERATION
- Lock and unlock the doors using a door lock control switch.
Do the doors lock and unlock?
- Yes: GO to 3 .
- No: IDENTIFY the correct symptom and REFER to Symptom Chart: Handles, Locks, Latches and Entry Systems - Electrical .
- CHECK THE IA KEY
- Place the IA key on the center console and start the engine.
Does the engine start?
- Yes: GO to 4 .
- No: REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE E : The Engine Does Not Start or Unable To Turn Ignition On.
- CHECK THE IA LOCK AND UNLOCK CAPACITIVE SENSOR PIDs
- Using a scan tool, view RFA module PIDs .

NOTE: When monitoring the capacitive sensor PIDs , it is best to select a graph view. When a sensor is touched, the PID state rapidly switches between ON and OFF for approximately 2 seconds.
Touch both the lock and unlock sensors on the suspect exterior door handle while monitoring the RFA module PIDs LF_HNDL_LK, LF_HNDL_UNLK, RF_HNDL_LK, and RF_HNDL_UNLK.
Do the PIDs indicate that the sensors are being touched?
- Yes: GO to 12.
- No: GO to 5 .
- CHECK THE RFA MODULE DTCs
FROM THE SELF-TEST
- Using a scan tool, perform the RFA module self-test.
Is DTC B1381:11 or B1382:11 present?
- Yes: GO to 6 .
- No: GO to 8.
- CHECK THE EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLES FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Disconnect: LH Front Exterior Door Handle (DTC B1381:11).
- Disconnect: RH Front Exterior Door Handle (DTC B1382:11).
- Using a scan tool, clear the RFA module DTCs .
- Using a scan tool, perform the RFA module self-test.
Is DTC B1381:11 or B1382:11 present?
- Yes: GO to 7 .
- No: INSTALL a new exterior door handle for the handle in question. REFER to Exterior Door Handle .
- CHECK THE LOCK AND UNLOCK CAPACITIVE SENSOR INPUT CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: RFA Module C2153D.
- Measure:
Front Exterior Door Handle Ground Front Exterior Door Handle Ground Connector - Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit C543-2 VPK39 (GN/VT) - Ground C634-2 VPK40 (WH/OG) - Ground
Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms?
- Yes: GO to 16.
- No: REPAIR the affected circuit.
- CHECK THE EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLE
- Disconnect: Suspect Front Exterior Door Handle.
- Connect a fused jumper wire:

Is DTC B1381:11 or B1382:11 present with the jumper wire connected?
- Yes: REMOVE the jumper wire. INSTALL a new exterior door handle for the handle in question. REFER to Exterior Door Handle .
- No: REMOVE the jumper wire. GO to 9 .
- CHECK THE LOCK AND UNLOCK CAPACITIVE SENSOR INPUT CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: RFA Module C2153D.
- Ignition ON.
- Measure:
Front Exterior Door Handle Ground Front Exterior Door Handle Ground Connector-Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit C543-2 VPK39 (GN/VT) - Ground C634-2 VPK40 (WH/OG) - Ground
Is any voltage present?
- Yes: REPAIR the affected circuit.
- No: GO to 10 .
- CHECK THE LOCK AND UNLOCK CAPACITIVE SENSOR INPUT CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Ignition OFF.
- Measure:

Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
- Yes: GO to 11 .
- No: REPAIR the affected circuit.
- CHECK THE LOCK AND UNLOCK CAPACITIVE SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Measure:

Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
- Yes: GO to 16.
- No: REPAIR the circuit.
- Measure:
- CHECK THE EXTERNAL ANTENNA
- Disconnect: Suspect Front Exterior Door Handle.
- Measure:

Is the resistance between 1 and 10 ohms?
- Yes: GO to 13 .
- No: INSTALL a new exterior door handle for the handle in question. REFER to Exterior Door Handle .
- CHECK THE EXTERNAL ANTENNA CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: RFA Module C2153A.
- Ignition ON.
- Measure:

Is any voltage present?
- Yes: REPAIR the affected circuit.
- No: GO to 14 .
- CHECK THE EXTERNAL ANTENNA CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Ignition OFF.
- Measure:

Are the resistances greater than 10, 000 ohms?
- Yes: GO to 15 .
- No: REPAIR the affected circuit.
- CHECK THE EXTERNAL ANTENNA CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
- Measure:

Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?
- Yes: GO to 16 .
- No: REPAIR the affected circuit.
- Measure:
- CHECK FOR CORRECT RFA MODULE OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect and inspect all RFA module connectors.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect all RFA module connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
- Yes: CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs . If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new RFA module. REFER to REMOTE FUNCTION ACTUATOR (RFA) MODULE .
- No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
