Pinpoint Test

  1. VERIFY THE DOOR LOCK OPERATION FROM THE DOOR LOCK CONTROL SWITCH AND IA KEY
    1. Press the lock and unlock button on a door lock control switch and IA key while observing the door lock operation.

    Are the door locks inoperative from both the switch and IA key? 

  2. VERIFY ALL DOOR LOCKS ARE INOPERATIVE
    1. Press the lock and unlock buttons from a door lock control switch while observing the door locks.

    Are all the door locks inoperative from both switch positions (lock and unlock)? 

  3. CHECK THE RFA MODULE DOOR LOCK RELAY SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR VOLTAGE
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Disconnect: RFA Module C2153C.
    3. Measure:
      RFA Module Ground

      Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit
      5 SBP27 (BU)

      - Ground

    Is the voltage greater than 11 volts? 

    • Yes: GO to  5.
    • No: VERIFY the BCM fuse 27 (20A) is OK. If OK, GO to . If not OK, GO to .
  4. CHECK THE RFA MODULE DOOR LOCK RELAY VOLTAGE SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
    1. Disconnect: BCM C2280A.
    2. Measure:
      RFA Module BCM

      5 SBP27 (BU)

      12 SBP27 (BU)

    Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? 

    • Yes: GO to  8.
    • No: REPAIR the circuit.
  5. CHECK THE RFA MODULE GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
    1. Disconnect: RFA Module C2153D.
    2. Measure:
      RFA Module Ground

      - Ground

    Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? 

    • Yes: GO to .
    • No: REPAIR the circuit.
  6. CHECK THE ALL LOCK CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
    1. Disconnect: RH Front Door Latch.
    2. Measure:
      RFA Module RH Front Door Latch

    Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? 

    • Yes: GO to  9.
    • No: REPAIR the circuit.
  7. CHECK THE ALL LOCK CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
    1. NOTE: If the BCM fuse 27 (20A) fails immediately upon installation, repair circuit SBP27 (BU) for a short to ground.

      Install a new BCM fuse 27 (20A).

    2. Operate the door lock actuators by pressing lock on the door lock control switch.

    Is the BCM fuse 27 (20A) OK? 

    • Yes: REPAIR the driver door or passenger door unlock circuit for a short to ground.
    • No: REPAIR the all lock circuit for a short to ground.
  8. CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM OPERATION
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Disconnect and inspect all BCM connectors.
    3. Repair:
      • corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
      • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
    4. Reconnect the BCM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
    5. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present? 

    • Yes: CHECK OASIS  for any applicable TSBs  . If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs  address this concern, INSTALL a new BCM. REFER to BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) - WITH INTELLIGENT ACCESS (IA) .
    • No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
  9. CHECK FOR CORRECT RFA MODULE OPERATION
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Disconnect and inspect all RFA module connectors.
    3. Repair:
      • corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
      • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
    4. Reconnect the RFA module connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
    5. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present? 

    • Yes: CHECK OASIS  for any applicable TSBs  . If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs  address this concern, INSTALL a new RFA module. REFER to REMOTE FUNCTION ACTUATOR (RFA) MODULE .
    • No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
