Pinpoint Test

  1. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs  IN THE BCM
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. NOTE: DTC B1305:01 sets if the hood is open. Make sure the hood is closed prior to running the self-test.

      Using a scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.

    Is DTC B1305:01 present? 

  2. CHECK THE HOOD AJAR SWITCH (HOOD_SW) PID
    1. Using a scan tool, view BCM PIDs  .
    2. Monitor the BCM PID HOOD_SW while disconnecting the hood switch.
    3. Disconnect: Hood Switch.

    Does the BCM PID read AJAR when the switch is disconnected? 

    • Yes: INSTALL a new hood switch.
    • No: GO to .
  3. CHECK THE HOOD SWITCH INPUT CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Disconnect: BCM C2280F.
    3. Measure:
      Hood Switch Ground
      G08037534
      G08037535
      C127 Ground
      Pin Circuit Measurement Pin Circuit
      1 CPL25 (BU/OG)
      G08037536
      - Ground

    Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms? 

    • Yes: GO to .
    • No: REPAIR the circuit.
  4. CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM OPERATION
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Disconnect and inspect all BCM connectors.
    3. Repair:
      • corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
      • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
    4. Reconnect all BCM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
    5. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present? 

    • Yes: CHECK OASIS  for any applicable TSBs  . If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs  address this concern, INSTALL a new BCM. REFER to Body Control Module (BCM) - without Intelligent Access (IA) or REFER to Body Control Module (BCM) - with Intelligent Access (IA).
    • No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
