Pinpoint Test

  1. RETRIEVE THE BCM DTCs  FROM THE SELF-TEST
    1. Using a scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.

    Is DTC C113A:11 recorded? 

    1. Yes: GO to .
    2. No: For DTC C113A:15, GO to  5.
  2. CHECK THE PCM FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Disconnect: PCM C175B.
    3. Ignition ON.
    4. Using a scan tool, clear BCM CMDTCs  .
    5. Using a scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.

    Is DTC C113A:11 retrieved? 

    1. Yes: GO to .
    2. No: GO to  9.
  3. CHECK THE PATS TRANSCEIVER FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
    1. Disconnect: PATS Transceiver.
    2. Using a scan tool, clear BCM CMDTCs  .
    3. Using a scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.

    Is DTC C113A:11 retrieved? 

    1. Yes: GO to .
    2. No: INSTALL a new PATS transceiver. REFER to Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) Transceiver .
  4. CHECK THE WAKEUP CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Disconnect: BCM C2280F.
    3. Measure:
      BCM Ground

      - Ground

    Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms? 

    1. Yes: GO to  10.
    2. No: REPAIR the circuit.
  5. CHECK THE WAKEUP CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN OR SHORT TO VOLTAGE
    1. Start the engine.

    Does the engine start? 

    1. Yes: GO to  7.
    2. No: GO to .
  6. CHECK THE WAKEUP CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Disconnect: PATS Transceiver.
    3. Disconnect: BCM C2280F.
    4. Measure:
      PATS Transceiver BCM

    Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? 

    1. Yes: GO to  10.
    2. No: REPAIR the circuit.
  7. CHECK THE WAKEUP CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Disconnect: PATS Transceiver.
    3. Disconnect: BCM C2280F.
    4. Ignition ON.
    5. Measure:
      PATS Transceiver Ground

    Is any voltage present? 

    1. Yes: GO to .
    2. No: GO to  10.
  8. CHECK THE PCM FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Disconnect: PCM C175B.
    3. Ignition ON.
    4. Measure:
      PATS Transceiver Ground

      - Ground

    Is any voltage present? 

    1. Yes: REPAIR the circuit.
    2. No: GO to .
  9. CHECK FOR CORRECT PCM OPERATION
    1. Disconnect and inspect all the PCM connectors.
    2. Repair:
      • corrosion (replace connector or terminals - clean module pins)
      • damaged or bent pins - replace terminals/pins
      • pushed-out pins - replace pins as necessary
    3. Reconnect the PCM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
    4. Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present? 

    1. Yes: CHECK OASIS  for any applicable TSBs  . If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs  address this concern, INSTALL a new PCM. REFER to POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) - 2.0L GTDI , or POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) - 3.5L TI-VCT .
    2. No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
  10. CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM OPERATION
    1. Disconnect and inspect all the BCM connectors.
    2. Repair:
      • corrosion (replace connector or terminals - clean module pins)
      • damaged or bent pins - replace terminals/pins
      • pushed-out pins - replace pins as necessary
    3. Reconnect the BCM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
    4. Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present? 

    1. Yes: CHECK OASIS  for any applicable TSBs  . If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs  address this concern, INSTALL a new BCM. REFER to BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) - WITHOUT INTELLIGENT ACCESS (IA) .
    2. No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
