Pinpoint Test

  1. CHECK FOR BCM DTCs
    1. Using a scan tool, perform BCM self-test.
    2. Record all BCM DTCs  .

    Is DTC B1240:11 present?

    1. Yes:  GO to .
    2. No  : If DTC B1240:15 is present, GO to .

For all other BCM DTCs  , REFER to DTC CHART: BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) .

If no BCM DTCs  are present, GO to .

  2. CHECK THE MODE INDICATOR CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Disconnect: BCM C2280B.
    3. Disconnect: Start/Stop Switch.
    4. Measure:
      Start/Stop switch Ground
      G08028352
      G08028353
      C2195 Ground
Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit
      2 CPK36 (VT/BN)
      G08028354
      - Ground

Is the resistance to ground greater than 10, 000 ohms?

    1. Yes:  INSTALL a new start/stop switch. REFER to Start-Stop Switch .
    2. No  : REPAIR the circuit.
  3. CHECK THE MODE INDICATOR CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
    1. NOTE: Disconnecting BCM C2280B with the ignition in RUN mode causes DTCs  to set in some modules.

      Ignition ON.

    2. Disconnect: BCM C2280B.
    3. Disconnect: Start/Stop Switch.
    4. Measure:
      Start/Stop Switch Ground
      G08028355
      G08028356
      C2195 Ground
Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit
      2 CPK36 (VT/BN)
      G08028357
      - Ground

    Is any voltage present?

    1. Yes:  REPAIR the circuit.
    2. No  : GO to .
  4. CHECK THE MODE INDICATOR CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Disconnect: BCM C2280B.
    3. Measure:
      Start/Stop Switch BCM
      G08028358
      G08028359
      C2195 C2280B
Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit
      2 CPK36 (VT/BN)
      G08028360
      42 CPK36 (VT/BN)

Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?

    1. Yes:  INSTALL a new start/stop switch. REFER to Start-Stop Switch .
    2. No  : REPAIR the circuit.
  5. CHECK START/STOP SWITCH INDICATOR
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Disconnect: BCM C2280B.
    3. Connect a fused jumper wire:
      BCM Battery
      G08028361
      G08028362
      C2280B Battery Positive Post
Pin Circuit Fused Jumper Pin Circuit
      42 CPK36 (VT/BN)
      G08028363
      - Battery positive post

Does the start/stop switch mode indicator illuminate?

    1. Yes:  REMOVE the fused jumper wire. GO to .
    2. No  : INSTALL a new start/stop switch. REFER to Start-Stop Switch .
  6. CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM OPERATION
    1. Disconnect and inspect all BCM connectors.
    2. Repair:
      • corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
      • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
    3. Reconnect the BCM connectors and all previously disconnected exterior system connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
    4. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present?

    1. Yes:  CHECK OASIS  for any applicable TSBs  . If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs  address this concern, INSTALL a new BCM. REFER to BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) - WITHOUT INTELLIGENT ACCESS (IA) , or REFER to BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) - WITH INTELLIGENT ACCESS (IA) .
    2. No  : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
