Pinpoint Test

  1. CHECK THE IGNITION SWITCH
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Disconnect: Ignition Switch.
    3. Carry out the Ignition Switch Component Test.

Refer to OEM Wiring Diagrams - COMPONENT TESTING for schematic and connector information.

    Is the ignition switch OK?

    1. Yes:  GO to .
    2. No  : INSTALL a new ignition switch. REFER to Ignition Switch .
  2. CHECK FOR POWER TO THE IGNITION SWITCH
    1. Measure:
      Ignition Switch Ground
      G08028283
      G08028284
      C250 Ground
Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit
      4 SBP28 (GN/RD)
      G08028285
      - Ground

Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?

    1. Yes:  GO to  4.
    2. No  : VERIFY BCM fuse 28 (15A) is OK. If OK, GO to . If not OK, REFER to the appropriate wiring diagrams to identify the possible causes of the circuit short. REFER to OEM FUSE AND RELAY INFORMATION and OEM WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  3. CHECK FOR POWER TO BCM FUSE 28 (15A)
    1. Measure:
      BCM Ground
      G08028286
      G08028287
      Fuse 28 (15A) Ground
Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit
      Input cavity SBF16 (RD)
      G08028288
      - Ground

Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?

      1. Yes:  REPAIR circuit SBP28 (GN/RD).
      2. No  : VERIFY High Current BJB Fuse B (100A) is OK. If OK, REPAIR the BCM voltage supply circuit. If not OK, REFER to the appropriate wiring diagrams to identify the possible causes of the circuit short. REFER to OEM FUSE AND RELAY INFORMATION and OEM WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  4. CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM OPERATION
    1. Disconnect and inspect all BCM connectors.
    2. Repair:
      • corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
      • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
    3. Reconnect the BCM connectors and all previously disconnected exterior system connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
    4. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present?

    1. Yes:  CHECK OASIS  for any applicable TSBs  . If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs  address this concern, INSTALL a new BCM. REFER to BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) - WITHOUT INTELLIGENT ACCESS (IA) , or REFER to BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) - WITH INTELLIGENT ACCESS (IA) .
    2. No  : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
