Pinpoint Test

  1. CHECK THE FOG LAMP SWITCH PID
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. Using a scan tool, view FLM PIDs  .
    3. Using a scan tool, monitor the FLM FOG_F_SW PID while pressing and releasing the fog lamp switch.

    Does the PID indicate the fog lamp switch is active when pressed and inactive when released? 

  2. BYPASS THE BCM
    NOTE: If the fuse in the jumper wire fails, REFER to the appropriate OEM WIRING DIAGRAMS to identify the cause for the circuit short.
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Disconnect: BCM C2280E.
    3. Connect a fused jumper wire:
      BCM Battery
      G08036696
      G08036697
      C2280E Positive
      Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit
      5 CLF12 (BN/YE)
      G08036698
      - Battery Positive

    Do the fog lamps illuminate? 

    • Yes: REMOVE the jumper wire. GO to .
    • No: REMOVE the jumper wire. REPAIR the BCM fog lamp output circuit for an open.
  3. CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM OPERATION
    1. Disconnect and inspect all BCM connectors.
    2. Repair:
      • corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
      • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
    3. Reconnect the BCM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
    4. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present?
