Pinpoint Test
- VERIFY THE CUSTOMER'S CONCERN
- Carry out the diagnostic system check.
- Start the engine.
- Observe the left and right exterior mirror BLIS® / CTA LEDs .
Do the left and right exterior mirror BLIS® / CTA LEDs illuminate and turn off after 3 seconds?
- Yes: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by an intermittent problem.
- No: GO to 2 .
- Carry out the diagnostic system check.
- CHECK THE DTCs
FROM SOD-L
AND SOD-R
SELF-TESTS
- Using a scan tool, perform the SOD-L and SOD-R DTCs self-tests.
Are any DTCs recorded?
- Yes: For DTC B11D6:15, GO to 3
.
For all other DTCs , REFER to DTC Chart: Side Obstacle Detection Module - Left (SOD-L) and Side Obstacle Detection Module - Right (SOD-R) .
- No: GO to 3 .
- CHECK THE EXTERIOR MIRROR BLIS® / CTA LED SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: SOD-L (LH concern).
- Disconnect: SOD-R (RH concern).
- Ignition ON.
- Measure:
LH
SOD-L Ground C4369 Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 1 CRB04 (YE/GN) - Ground RH
SOD-R Ground C4370 Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 1 CRB02 (BU/BN) - Ground
Is any voltage present?
- CHECK THE EXTERIOR MIRROR FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Left Exterior Mirror C516 (LH concern).
- Disconnect: Right Exterior Mirror C601 (RH concern).
- Ignition ON.
- Measure:
LH
SOD-L Ground C4369 Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 1 CRB04 (YE/GN) - Ground RH
SOD-R Ground C4370 Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 1 CRB02 (BU/BN) - Ground
Is any voltage present?
- Yes: REPAIR the circuit.
- No: INSTALL a new exterior mirror for the one in question. REFER to EXTERIOR MIRROR .
- CHECK FOR CORRECT SOD-L
OPERATION
- Disconnect and inspect the SOD-L connector.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect the SOD-L connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
- Yes: CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs . If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new SOD-L . REFER to Side Obstacle Detection (SOD) Module .
- No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
