Pinpoint Test

  1. VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. Verify that there is an observable symptom present.

    Is an observable symptom present? 

    • Yes: GO to .
    • No: The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
  2. CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. Using a scan tool, perform network test.

    Does the PSCM pass the network test? 

    • Yes: GO to .
    • No: REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE AC : The Power Steering Control Module (PSCM) Does Not Respond To The Scan Tool.
  3. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs  FROM THE BCM SELF-TEST
    1. Using a scan tool, perform BCM self-test.

    Is DTC U3003:16 or DTC U3003:17 recorded? 

  4. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs  FROM THE PSCM SELF-TEST
    1. Check for recorded DTCs  from the PSCM self-test.

    Is DTC U3003:16 or DTC U3003:17 recorded? 

  5. RECHECK THE BCM DTCs 
    1. NOTE: If new modules were installed prior to the DTC being set, the module configuration may be incorrectly set during the PMI or the PMI may not have been carried out.

      Using a scan tool, clear the DTCs  . Repeat the BCM self-test.

    Is DTC U0131:00 still present? 

    • Yes: GO to .
    • No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
  6. CHECK FOR DTC U0131:00 SET IN OTHER MODULES
    1. Clear the DTCs  .
    2. Ignition OFF.
    3. Ignition ON.
    4. Wait 10 seconds.
    5. Using a scan tool, retrieve the continuous memory DTCs  from all modules.

    Is DTC U0131:00 set in other modules?
