Pinpoint Test

1. Ignition ON.
2. Verify that there is an observable symptom present.

Is an observable symptom present? 

• Yes: GO to 2  .
• No: The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.

1. Ignition ON.
2. Using a scan tool, perform network test.

Does the PSCM pass the network test? 

• Yes: GO to 3  .
• No: REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE AC : The Power Steering Control Module (PSCM) Does Not Respond To The Scan Tool.

1. Using a scan tool, perform BCM self-test.

Is DTC U3003:16 or DTC U3003:17 recorded? 

• Yes: For DTC U3003:16, REFER to Diagnostic Routine H: DTC U3003:16 .

  For DTC U3003:17, REFER to Diagnostic Routine I: DTC U3003:17 .

• No: GO to 4  .

1. Check for recorded DTCs  from the PSCM self-test.

Is DTC U3003:16 or DTC U3003:17 recorded? 

• REFER to DTC AND SYMPTOM CHART(S) - Steering System.
• No: GO to 5  .

1. NOTE: If new modules were installed prior to the DTC being set, the module configuration may be incorrectly set during the PMI or the PMI may not have been carried out.

   Using a scan tool, clear the DTCs  . Repeat the BCM self-test.

Is DTC U0131:00 still present? 

• Yes: GO to 6  .
• No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.

1. Clear the DTCs  .
2. Ignition OFF.
3. Ignition ON.
4. Wait 10 seconds.
5. Using a scan tool, retrieve the continuous memory DTCs  from all modules.

Is DTC U0131:00 set in other modules? 

• Yes: INSTALL a new steering gear. REFER to STEERING GEAR . CLEAR the DTCs  .
• No: INSTALL a new BCM. REFER to Body Control Module (BCM) - with Intelligent Access (IA)  or REFER to Body Control Module (BCM) - without Intelligent Access (IA) .
