Pinpoint Test F

  1. CHECK THE SPEAKER CONNECTOR FOR CORRECT LATCHING
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Inspect the parking aid speaker connector for correct latching by pulling on the latched connector.

    Is the connector latched? 

    • Yes: GO to .
    • No: Correctly LATCH the connector.
  2. MEASURE THE PARKING AID SPEAKER RESISTANCE
    1. Disconnect: Parking Aid Speaker.
    2. Measure:

    Is the resistance between 40 and 60 ohms? 

    • Yes: For DTC B1B52:14, GO to .

      For DTC B1B52:12, GO to  6.

    • No: INSTALL a new parking aid speaker. REFER to Parking Aid Speaker .
  3. CHECK THE PARKING AID SPEAKER CIRCUITRY FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
    1. Disconnect: PAM.
    2. Measure:
      PAM Ground

    Are the resistances greater than 10, 000 ohms? 

    • Yes: GO to .
    • No: REPAIR the circuit in question.
  4. CHECK THE PARKING AID SPEAKER CIRCUITRY FOR AN OPEN
    1. Measure:

    Are the resistances less than 3 ohms? 

    • Yes: GO to .
    • No: REPAIR the circuit in question.
  5. CHECK THE PARKING AID SPEAKER CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO EACH OTHER
    1. Measure:

    Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms? 

    • Yes: GO to  7.
    • No: REPAIR the circuits.
  6. CHECK THE PARKING AID SPEAKER CIRCUITRY FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
    1. Disconnect: Parking Aid Speaker.
    2. Disconnect: PAM.
    3. Ignition ON.
    4. Measure:
      PAM Ground

      6 RMP09 (BU/GN) - Ground

    Is any voltage present? 

    • Yes: REPAIR the circuit in question.
    • No: GO to .
  7. CHECK FOR CORRECT PAM OPERATION
    1. Disconnect and inspect the PAM connector.
    2. Repair:
      • corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
      • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
    3. Reconnect the PAM connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly.
    4. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present? 

    • Yes: CHECK OASIS  for any applicable TSBs  . If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs  address this concern, INSTALL a new PAM. REFER to Parking Aid Module (PAM) .
    • No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
