Pinpoint Test

  1. CHECK THE KEY-IN-IGNITION WARNING CHIME OPERATION
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. On vehicles without IA, place the ignition in the OFF position with the key in the ignition lock cylinder, open the LH front door and observe the key-in-ignition warning chime operation.
    3. On vehicles with IA, place the ignition in accessory mode, open the LH front door and observe the key-in-ignition warning chime operation.

    Does the key-in-ignition warning chime operate correctly? 

    1. Yes: GO to  3  .
    2. No: INSTALL a new IPC. REFER to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) .
  2. CHECK THE DRIVER SAFETY BELT BUCKLE SWITCH
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. Using a scan tool, view the RCM PIDs  .
    3. Select and monitor the RCM driver safety belt buckle PID (SBELT_D_ST) while buckling and unbuckling the driver safety belt.

    Does the PID display BUCKLED with the safety belt buckled and UNBUCKLED with the safety belt unbuckled? 

    1. Yes: GO to  4  .
    2. No: INSTALL a new safety belt buckle. REFER to SAFETY BELT BUCKLE AND PRETENSIONER .
  3. CHECK THE SAFETY BELT WARNING INDICATOR FOR CORRECT OPERATION
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. Within one minute, buckle then unbuckle the LH front safety belt.
    3. Verify the safety belt warning indicator illuminates with the safety belt unbuckled and turns off when buckled.

    Does the safety belt warning indicator operate correctly? 

    1. Yes: GO to .
    2. No: REFER to Diagnostic Routine S: The Safety Belt Warning Indicator Is Never or Always On .
  4. CHECK THE SPEEDOMETER OPERATION
    1. Verify the speedometer is operating.

    Does the speedometer operate? 

    1. Yes: GO to .
    2. No: REFER to Diagnostic Routine G: The Speedometer Is Inoperative .
  5. CHECK THE Belt-Minder® CONFIGURATION
    1. NOTE: Make sure that an administrator key is used for this test and not a MyKey® programmed key. When a MyKey® programmed key is used, the Belt-Minder® is automatically turned on and cannot be disabled (if previously disabled by an administrator, the Belt-Minder® remains disabled when an administrator key is used).

      Verify the Belt-Minder® is activated or configured on for the seating position in question. REFER to BELT-MINDER® Deactivating and Activating 

    Is the Belt-Minder® activated for the seating position in question? 

    1. Yes: If the Belt-Minder® is always on above 4.8 kmh (3 mph) with the safety belt unfastened, the system is operating normally.

      If the Belt-Minder® is always on with the safety belt fastened or never on with the safety belt unfastened above 4.8 kmh (3 mph), INSTALL a new RCM. REFER to RESTRAINTS CONTROL MODULE (RCM) .

    2. No: ACTIVATE the Belt-Minder® for the seating position in question. REFER to BELT-MINDER® Deactivating and Activating
