Pinpoint Test

  1. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs  FROM THE IPC SELF-TEST
    1. Using a scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.

    Are any DTCs recorded? 

    1. Yes: If DTC U0100:00 is present, REFER to Diagnostic Routine AR: U0100:00 .

      If DTC P1706:62 is present, GO to  3  .

    2. No: GO to .
  2. RETRIEVE AND RECORD THE DTCs  FROM THE PCM KOEO SELF-TEST
    1. Using a scan tool, perform the PCM KOEO self-test.

    Are any PCM DTCs recorded? 

    1. Yes: REFER to SECTION 3: SYMPTOM CHARTS .
    2. No: GO to .
  3. CHECK THE PARK DETECT INPUT TO THE IPC
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Disconnect: Selector Lever.
    3. Connect a fused jumper wire:
      Selector Lever Ground

      - Ground
    4. Ignition ON.
    5. Monitor the PRNDL indicator with the jumper wire installed and with the jumper wire removed.

    Does the PRNDL display P with the jumper wire connected and blank with the jumper wire removed? 

    1. Yes: REMOVE the jumper wire. INSTALL a new selector lever:

      REFER to SELECTOR LEVER - TCS, or

      REFER to SELECTOR LEVER - Select Shift.

    2. No: REMOVE the jumper wire. GO to .
  4. CHECK THE SELECTOR LEVER INPUT CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Disconnect: IPC.
    3. Measure:
      IPC Selector Lever

      7 CET52 (GN)

      2 CET52 (GN)

    Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? 

    1. Yes: GO to .
    2. No: REPAIR the circuit.
  5. CHECK THE SELECTOR LEVER INPUT CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
    1. Measure:
      IPC Ground

      - Ground

    Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms? 

    1. Yes: GO to .
    2. No: REPAIR the circuit.
  6. CHECK FOR CORRECT IPC OPERATION
    1. Disconnect and inspect the IPC connector.
    2. Repair:
      • corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
      • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
    3. Reconnect the IPC connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly.
    4. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present? 

    1. Yes: CHECK OASIS  for any applicable TSBs  . If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs  address this concern, INSTALL a new IPC. REFER to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) .
    2. No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
