Pinpoint Test

VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN
1. Ignition ON.
2. Check the clock display.
Does the clock display operate?
1. Yes: The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set due to the APIM still booting, high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
2. No: GO to 2 .
CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK
1. Ignition ON.
2. Using a scan tool, perform a network test.
3. Carry out the network test.
Does the APIM pass the network test?
1. Yes: GO to 3 .
2. No: REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE S : The Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM) Does Not Respond To The Scan Tool.
RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE APIM SELF-TEST
1. Using a scan tool, perform the APIM self-test.
Is DTC U3003:16 or DTC U3003:17 recorded?
1. Yes: For DTC U3003:16, REFER to PINPOINT TEST AF: DTC U3003:16 .
  For DTC U3003:17, REFER to PINPOINT TEST AG: DTC U3003:17 .
2. No: GO to 4 .
RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE IPC SELF-TEST
1. Using a scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.
Is DTC U3003:16 or DTC U3003:17 recorded?
1. Yes: For DTC U3003:16, REFER to Diagnostic Routine BD: U3003:16 .
  For DTC U3003:17, REFER to Diagnostic Routine BE: U3003:17 .
2. No: GO to 5 .
RECHECK THE IPC DTCs
NOTE: If new modules were installed prior to the DTC being set, the module configuration can be incorrectly set during the PMI or the PMI may not have been carried out.
1. Clear the DTCs .
2. Wait 6 minutes.
3. Repeat the IPC self-test.
Is DTC U0253:00 still present?
1. Yes: GO to 6 .
2. No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
CHECK FOR DTC U0253:00 SET IN OTHER MODULES
1. Clear all DTCs .
2. Ignition OFF.
3. Ignition ON.
4. Wait 6 minutes.
5. Using the scan tool, perform self-test.
6. Retrieve the continuous memory DTCs from all modules.
Is DTC U0253:00 set in the ACM?
1. Yes: INSTALL a new APIM:
  For Premium Plus, REFER to ACCESSORY PROTOCOL INTERFACE MODULE (APIM) , or
  
  For Sony® Sound, REFER to ACCESSORY PROTOCOL INTERFACE MODULE (APIM) .
2. No: INSTALL a new IPC. REFER to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) .
