Pinpoint Test

  1. CHECK THE MESSAGE CENTER WARNING INDICATOR FUNCTION
    1. Close all doors, hood and liftgate.
    2. Ignition ON.
    3. NOTE: If multiple warnings are present, the message center cycles through each of the warning indicators. Allow the message center to cycle through each display while determining whether the door ajar message center warning indicator is active.

      Open the driver door while monitoring the door ajar message center warning indicator.

    Does the driver door ajar message center warning indicator turn off with the driver door closed and illuminate with the driver door open? 

    1. Yes: GO to .
    2. No: INSTALL a new IPC. REFER to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) .
  2. CHECK THE FUEL GAUGE OPERATION
    1. Verify the fuel gauge is operating correctly and is not registering empty (E) or full (F) all the time.

    Does the fuel gauge operate correctly? 

    1. Yes: GO to .
    2. No: REFER to Diagnostic Routine B: Incorrect Fuel Gauge Indication .
  3. CHECK THE DTE DISPLAYED
    1. Access the DTE information in the trip computer display (base IPC) or fuel economy display (optional IPC).

    Does the DTE indicate 120.7 kmh (75 mph) (with a MyKey®) or 80.5 kmh (50 mph) (with an administrator programmed key) or less? 

    1. Yes: If the low fuel message center indicator is never on, INSTALL a new IPC. REFER to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) .

      If the low fuel message center warning indicator is always on, the system is operating correctly at this time.

    2. No: If the low fuel indicator is always on, INSTALL a new IPC. REFER to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) .

      If the low fuel message center warning indicator is never on, the system is operating correctly at this time.
