Normal Operation

The stability/traction control system sensors consist of the yaw rate sensor, roll rate sensor, lateral accelerometer and longitudinal accelerometer. The stability/traction control system sensors are contained within the Restraints Control Module (RCM). The RCM provides the ABS module with the sensor information along a dedicated Controller Area Network (CAN) bus.

The stability/traction control system sensors are not serviceable separately from the RCM. If a new sensor/accelerometer is needed, a new RCM must be installed.

DTC Description Fault Trigger Conditions
  • C0061:28 - Lateral Acceleration Sensor: Signal Bias Level Out of Range/Zero Adjustment Failure
  • C0063:28 - Yaw Rate Sensor: Signal Bias Level Out of Range/Zero Adjustment Failure
  • C0064:28 - Roll Rate Sensor: Signal Bias Level Out of Range/Zero Adjustment Failure
If the ABS module receives sensor information when the vehicle is not moving, the applicable DTC sets.
  • C0061:64 - Lateral Acceleration Sensor: Signal Plausibility Failure
  • C0062:64 - Longitudinal Acceleration Sensor: Signal Plausibility Failure
  • C0063:64 - Yaw Rate Sensor: Signal Plausibility Failure
  • C0064:64 - Roll Rate Sensor: Signal Plausibility Failure
This DTC indicates that the sensor is inconsistent with other stability sensor, steering wheel angle sensor and wheel speed sensor signals.
  • U0151:87 - Lost Communication With Restraints Control Module: Missing Message
This DTC can set as a result of a loss of communication with the RCM over either the High Speed Controller Area Network (HS-CAN) bus or the dedicated CAN bus.
  • U0151:88 - Lost Communication With Restraints Control Module: Bus Off
This DTC can set if either the dedicated CAN circuit VCA23 (BU/WH) or VCA24 (GN/OG) are open, shorted to ground or shorted to each other. Other DTCs indicating missing messages or invalid signal from the RCM sensors can set as a result of a dedicated CAN bus fault.
  • U0452:29 - Invalid Data Received From Restraints Control Module: Signal Invalid
This DTC indicates that one or more of the stability control sensors internal to the RCM have failed and the RCM is transmitting an "invalid data" message.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
