Fan Shroud: Service and Repair




Cooling Fan Motor and Shroud - 2.3L

Removal and Installation

1. If equipped with A/C, disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Battery, Mounting and Cables Battery Disconnect.

2. Remove the Air Cleaner (ACL) outlet tube. For additional information, refer to Intake Air Distribution and Filtering [1][2]Diagrams.

3. If equipped with A/C, disconnect the electric cooling fan electrical connector.

4. Remove the 3 bolts and position the power steering fluid reservoir aside.
- To install, tighten to 6 Nm (53 lb-in).

5. Remove the 2 cooling fan shroud mounting bolts and lift the shroud and, if equipped, the electric cooling fan assembly from the vehicle.
- To install, tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb-in).

6. If necessary, remove the 3 bolts and the electric cooling fan.
- To install, tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).

7. If necessary, remove the 2 bolts, the electric cooling fan bracket and the 3 electric cooling fan nuts from the fan shroud.
- To install, tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).

8. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
