Removal and Installation

1. Remove the axle shaft. For additional information, refer to Rear Drive Axle/Differential - Ford 8.8-Inch Ring Gear Service and Repair.

2. Remove the parking brake shoes. For additional information, refer to Parking Brake and Actuation Parking Brake Shoes.

3. Disconnect the rear parking brake cable from the rear parking brake cable extension union by releasing the locking tab.





4. WARNING: Use tools, not fingers, to hold flagnuts. Flagnuts may slip or spin unexpectedly when removing fasteners. Failure to follow this instruction may result in injured fingers.

Remove the 4 brake caliper anchor plate bolts, washers, flagnuts and the anchor plate.

- To install, tighten to 68 Nm (50 lb-ft).

5. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
