Belt-Minder® Deactivating/Activating: Deactivating/Activating
NOTE:
The Belt-Minder® cannot be deactivated using a MyKey™ programmed key. The Belt-Minder® can only be deactivated using an administrator key.
If the Belt-Minder® is already disabled, driving the vehicle with a MyKey™ programmed key overrides the deactivation, however, when the vehicle is subsequently operated using an administrator key, the Belt-Minder® once again reverts to the disabled state.

- Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position (do not start the engine).
- Wait approximately 1 minute until the safety belt warning indicator turns off.
- To disable the seating position, buckle then unbuckle the safety belt 9 times, ending in the unbuckled state.
- After Step 3, the safety belt warning indicator illuminates for 3 seconds then turns off.
- Within 10 seconds of the indicator turning off, buckle then unbuckle the safety belt.
- This disables the Belt-Minder® feature for that seating position, if it is currently enabled. As confirmation, the safety belt warning indicator flashes 4 times per second for 3 seconds.
- This enables the Belt-Minder® feature for that seating position, if it is currently disabled. As confirmation, the safety belt warning indicator flashes 4 times per second for 3 seconds, followed by 3 seconds with the light off, then followed by the safety belt warning indicator flashing 4 times per second for 3 seconds again.
NOTE:
Step 3 must be completed within 50 seconds after the safety belt warning indicator turns off.
NOTE:
Buckle and unbuckle the safety belt at a moderate rate. If the safety belt buckled/unbuckle/buckle sequence is carried out too fast, the Restraints Control Module (RCM) can fail to recognize one of the sequences and the procedure must be repeated.
