  • VERIFY that the fuel gauge is operating correctly and that the fuel level is below approximately one-eighth tank or the Distance To Empty (DTE) is less than 120 km (75 miles) (with a MyKey™ key) or 80 km (50 miles) (with an administrator key).
  • If the fuel gauge is operating correctly and is below approximately one-eighth tank or the DTE is less than 120 km (75 miles) (with a MyKey™ key) or 80 km (50 miles) (with an administrator key), the system is operating correctly at this time.
  • If the fuel gauge is not less than one-eighth tank or the DTE is not less than 120 km (75 miles) (with a MyKey™ key) or 80 km (50 miles) (with an administrator key), INSTALL a new IC. REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (IC) . TEST the system for normal operation.
  • The charging system warning indicator is never/always on

  • PRESS the INFO button on the message center switch to make sure the display is not set to a blank display.
  • If the message center display turns on, the system is operating normally at this time. The message center display was set to a blank display.
  • The Distance To Empty (DTE)/average/instantaneous fuel economy is inoperative
  • IC
  • CHECK the operation of the speedometer, the odometer, and the fuel gauge.
  • If the speedometer, odometer, or fuel gauge do not operate correctly, GO to PINPOINT TEST B  (fuel gauge), GO to PINPOINT TEST H  (speedometer) or GO to PINPOINT TEST I  (odometer).
  • If the speedometer, odometer, and fuel gauge operate correctly, INSTALL a new IC. REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (IC) .. TEST the system for normal operation.
  • The DRIVER, PASSENGER, REAR LEFT, REAR RIGHT DOOR or TRUNK AJAR warning is inoperative/always on
  • Interior lighting concern
  • IC
  • CHECK the operation of the door ajar warning indicator.
  • If the door ajar warning indicator does not operate correctly, GO to PINPOINT TEST X .
  • If the door ajar warning indicator operates correctly, INSTALL a new IC. REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (IC) .. TEST the system for normal operation.
  • The PARK BRAKE ENGAGED, CHECK BRAKE SYSTEM or LOW BRAKE FLUID warning is inoperative/always on
  • IC
  • SJB
  • CHECK the operation of the brake warning indicator.
  • If the brake warning indicator operates correctly, INSTALL a new IC. REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (IC) .. TEST the system for normal operation.
  • The LOW TIRE PRESSURE, TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR FAULT or TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR FAULT warning is inoperative
  • SJB

  • OBSERVE the operation of the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) warning indicator.
  • If the TPMS pressure warning indicator does not operate correctly, GO to PINPOINT TEST Z .
  • If the TPMS warning indicator operates correctly, INSTALL a new IC. REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (IC) .. TEST the system for normal operation.
  • The TRAINING COMPLETE, TRAIN LF TIRE, TRAIN RF TIRE, TRAIN LR TIRE, TRAIN RR TIRE, TRAIN SPARE TIRE or TIRES NOT TRAINED message is inoperative
  • SJB

  • NOTE: These messages only appear during the TPMS sensor training procedure. Refer to WHEELS & TIRES article.
  • OBSERVE the operation of the TPMS warning indicator.
  • If the TPMS pressure warning indicator does not operate correctly, GO to PINPOINT TEST Z .
  • If the TPMS warning indicator operates correctly, INSTALL a new IC. REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (IC) .. TEST the system for normal operation.
  • A MyKey™ message is inoperative
  • Message center concern
  • MyKey™ system concern
  • NOTE: MyKey™ may not be compatible with non-Ford approved remote start systems.
  • VERIFY that a MyKey™ is used. With the key on, OPEN then CLOSE the driver door and VERIFY that the message center warning functions correctly.
  • If the DRIVER DOOR AJAR message center warning does not function correctly, GO to PINPOINT TEST AD .
SYMPTOM CHART - WARNING CHIMES

  • The safety belt warning chime does not operate correctly

  • RETRIEVE the recorded IC DTCs from the continuous and on-demand self-tests.
  • If IC DTC B1868 or B1870 is present with DTC U2472, GO to PINPOINT TEST AK  to diagnose DTC U2472.
  • If IC DTC B1868 or B1870 only is present, INSTALL a new IC. REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (IC) .. TEST the system for normal operation.
  • If IC DTC B1868 or B1870 is not present, the system is operating correctly. The air bag secondary warning chime sounds only when a fault in the air bag warning indicator is present and DTC B1868 or B1870 is recorded.
  • The message center warning chime is inoperative
  • IC
  • VERIFY that there are warning messages displayed and confirm, as new warning messages appear, that the warning chime sounds.
  • If messages do not exist, the system is operating correctly at this time. The message center warning chime only sounds when the message center detects new warning messages.
  • If warning messages exist and the chime does not sound, INSTALL a new IC. REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (IC) .. TEST the system for normal operation.
  • The perimeter alarm warning chime is inoperative
  • Perimeter alarm concern

  • VERIFY the perimeter alarm functions correctly.
  • If the perimeter alarm functions correctly, INSTALL a new IC. REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (IC) .. TEST the system for normal operation.
