Pinpoint Test

  1. CHECK THE BACKLIGHTING VOLTAGE SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Disconnect: Inoperative Illumination Source.
    3. Ignition ON.
    4. Place the headlamp switch in the parking lamps on position.
    5. Using the instrument panel dimmer switch, change the dimmable backlighting to its brightest setting.
    6. Measure:

    • Is the voltage greater than 11 volts? 
    1. Yes:  For a door lock control switch, INSTALL a new door lock control switch. REFER to DOOR LOCK CONTROL SWITCH .

      For all other components, GO to step 2 .

    2. No:  REPAIR the circuit.
  2. CHECK THE BACKLIGHTING GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
  1. Measure:

  1. Yes:  INSTALL a new component in question.
  2. No:  REPAIR the circuit.
