Pinpoint Test

  1. CHECK THE MESSAGE CENTER WARNING INDICATOR FUNCTION
    1. Close all doors, hood and liftgate.
    2. Ignition ON.
    3. NOTE: If multiple warnings are present, the message center cycles through each of the warning indicators. Allow the message center to cycle through each display while determining whether the door ajar message center warning indicator is active.

    Open the driver door while monitoring the door ajar message center warning indicator.

    • Does the driver door ajar message center warning indicator turn off with the driver door closed and illuminate with the driver door open? 
    1. Yes:  GO to on page 2.
    2. No:  INSTALL a new Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC). REFER to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) .
  2. CHECK THE OPERATION OF THE GRADE ASSIST FUNCTION
    1. Verify the grade assist function operates when engaged and turns off when disengaged.
    • Does the grade assist function operate correctly? 
    1. Yes:  GO to on page 2.
    2. No:  REFER to SYMPTOM CHART(S)  to diagnose the Transmission Control Switch (TCS).
  3. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) FROM THE Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) SELF-TEST
    1. Using a scan tool, perform the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) self-test.
    • Is Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U0100:00 recorded? 
    1. Yes:  REFER to Diagnostic Routine AR .
    2. No:  GO to on page 2.
  4. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) FROM THE Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Key ON Engine OFF (KOEO) SELF-TEST
  1. Using a scan tool, perform the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Key ON Engine OFF (KOEO) self-test.
  1. Yes:  REFER to the appropriate Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) manual INTRODUCTION - GASOLINE MODELS .
  2. No:  INSTALL a new Powertrain Control Module (PCM). REFER to POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) .
