Pinpoint Test

  1. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) FROM THE Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Key ON Engine OFF (KOEO) SELF-TEST
    1. Using a scan tool, perform the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Key ON Engine OFF (KOEO) self-test.
    • Are any Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 
    1. Yes:  REFER to the appropriate Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) manual INTRODUCTION - GASOLINE MODELS .
    2. No:  GO to on page 2.
  2. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) FROM THE Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) SELF-TEST
    1. Using a scan tool, perform the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) self-test.
    • Is Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U0100:00 recorded? 
    1. Yes:  REFER to Diagnostic Routine AR .
    2. No:  GO to on page 2.
  3. CARRY OUT THE Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) ACTIVE COMMAND USING THE SCAN TOOL
  1. Ignition ON.
  2. Using a scan tool, view the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Parameter Identifications (PIDs).
  3. Select the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) Parameter Identification (PID). Command the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) on and off. Observe the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL).
  1. Yes:  If the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) is never on, the system is operating correctly at this time.

    If the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) is always on, INSTALL a new Powertrain Control Module (PCM). REFER to POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) .

  2. No:  INSTALL a new Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC). REFER to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) .
