Pinpoint Test

  1. VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. Verify there is an observable symptom present.
    • Is an observable symptom present? 
    1. Yes:  GO to on page 2.
    2. No:  The system is operating normally at this time. The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
  2. CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. Using a scan tool, perform a network test.
    3. Carry out the network test.
    • Does the Body Control Module (BCM) pass the network test? 
    1. Yes:  GO to on page 2.
    2. No:  REFER to Diagnostic Routine I .
  3. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) FROM THE Body Control Module (BCM) SELF-TEST
    1. Using a scan tool, perform the Body Control Module (BCM) self-test.
    • Is Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U3003:16 or Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U3003:17 recorded? 
    1. Yes:  For Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U3003:16, REFER to Diagnostic Routine H .

      For Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U3003:17, REFER to Diagnostic Routine I .

    2. No:  GO to on page 2.
  4. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) FROM THE Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) SELF-TEST
    1. Using a scan tool, perform the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) self-test.
    • Is Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U3003:16 or Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U3003:17 recorded? 
    1. Yes:  For Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U3003:16, REFER to Diagnostic Routine BD .

      For Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U3003:17, REFER to Diagnostic Routine BE .

    2. No:  GO to on page 2.
  5. RECHECK THE Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)
    NOTE: If new modules were installed prior to the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) being set, the module configuration can be incorrectly set during the Programmable Module Installation (PMI) or the Programmable Module Installation (PMI) may not have been carried out.
    1. Clear the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
    2. Wait 10 seconds.
    3. Repeat the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) self-test.
    • Is Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U0140:00 still present? 
    1. Yes:  GO to on page 3.
    2. No:  The system is operating correctly at this time. The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
  6. CHECK FOR Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U0140 SET IN OTHER MODULES
  1. Clear all Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
  2. Ignition OFF.
  3. Ignition ON.
  4. Wait 10 seconds.
  5. Using the scan tool, perform self-test.
  6. Retrieve the continuous memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from all modules.
  1. Yes:  INSTALL a new Body Control Module (BCM). REFER to BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) - WITH INTELLIGENT ACCESS (IA) or REFER to BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) - WITHOUT INTELLIGENT ACCESS (IA) .
  2. No:  INSTALL a new Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC). REFER to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) .
