Pinpoint Test

  1. VERIFY THE OPERATION OF THE POWERTRAIN MALFUNCTION (WRENCH) AND ENGINE OVERTEMPERATURE MESSAGE CENTER WARNING INDICATORS
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Disconnect: Powertrain Control Module (PCM) C175B.
    3. Ignition ON.
    4. NOTE: If multiple warnings are present, the message center indicators rotate through each of the warnings. Allow the displays to rotate through each display while determining whether the powertrain malfunction (wrench) and over-temperature message center warning indicator is active.

    Observe the message center or integrated display area of the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) with the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) connected and disconnected.

    • Do the powertrain malfunction (wrench) and engine over-temperature warning message center indicators remain off when the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is connected and become active with the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) disconnected? 
    1. Yes:  GO to on page 2.
    2. No:  INSTALL a new Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC). REFER to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) .
  2. CHECK THE INTERIOR LIGHTING OPERATION
    1. Open and close each door while monitoring the interior lamps.
    • Do the interior lamps operate correctly with each door? 
    1. Yes:  GO to on page 2.
    2. No:  REFER to SYMPTOM CHART: INTERIOR LIGHTING .
  3. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) FROM THE Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) SELF-TEST
    1. Using a scan tool, perform the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) self-test.
    • Is Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U0140:00 recorded? 
    1. Yes:  REFER to Diagnostic Routine AV .
    2. No:  GO to on page 2.
  4. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) FROM THE Body Control Module (BCM) SELF-TEST
  1. Using a scan tool, perform the Body Control Module (BCM) self-test.
  1. Yes:  REFER to DTC CHART: BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) .
  2. No:  INSTALL a new Body Control Module (BCM). REFER to BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) - WITH INTELLIGENT ACCESS (IA) or REFER to BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) - WITHOUT INTELLIGENT ACCESS (IA) .
