SYMPTOM CHART - WARNING CHIMES

Condition Possible Sources Actions
  • All the chimes are inoperative
  • Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC)
  • The chime sounds when the driver door is ajar (no key in ignition and headlamps off)
  • Exterior lighting concern
  • Interior lighting concern
  • Wiring, terminals or connectors
  • Key-in-ignition warning switch (part of the ignition switch) (without Intelligent Access (IA))
  • Body Control Module (BCM)
  • The key-in-ignition warning chime is inoperative
  • Interior lighting concern
  • Wiring, terminals or connectors
  • Key-in-ignition warning switch (part of the ignition switch) (without Intelligent Access (IA))
  • Body Control Module (BCM)
  • Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC)
  • The headlamps on warning chime is inoperative
  • Interior lighting concern
  • Body Control Module (BCM)
  • Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC)
  • The memory-stored feedback warning chime is inoperative
  • Memory set feature concern
  • Driver Seat Module (DSM)
  • Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC)
  • The safety belt warning chime is inoperative

  • OBSERVE the door ajar message center warning indicator.

  • If the door ajar message center warning indicator does not operate correctly, REFER to Diagnostic Routine AC .
  • If the door ajar message center warning indicator operates correctly, INSTALL a new Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC). REFER to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) .
  • The parking brake warning chime is inoperative
  • Brake warning indication concern
  • Body Control Module (BCM)
  • Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC)
  • The perimeter alarm chime is inoperative
  • Perimeter alarm concern
  • Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC)
  • VERIFY the key-in-ignition warning chime functions correctly.

  • The turn signal on warning chime is inoperative
  • Exterior lighting concern
  • Body Control Module (BCM)
  • Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC)
  • The air bag secondary warning chime is inoperative or has activated
  • Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC)
  • RETRIEVE the recorded Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from the self-test.

  • If the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P1534:01 is not present, the system is operating correctly. The air bag secondary warning chime sounds only when a fault in the air bag warning indicator is present and Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P1534:01 is recorded.
  • If the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P1534:01 is present, INSTALL a new Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC). REFER to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) .
