Motor Electronics Cooling System Draining and Filling: Draining

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
NOTE: The coolant must be recovered in a suitable, clean container for reuse. If the coolant is contaminated, it must be recycled or disposed of correctly or damage may occur.
NOTE: Always refill the Motor Electronics Cooling System (MECS) with the same type of coolant that was drained from the system. Do not mix coolant types. Mixing coolant types may cause MECS damage.
  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING article.
  2. Turn the ignition to the OFF position.
  3. Remove the LH splash shield.

  4. Loosen the hose clamps at the transaxle, then pull the hoses off to allow the coolant to drain.

  5. Connect the hoses to the transaxle and install the hose clamps.
  6. Install the LH splash shield.
