Crankshaft Rear Seal: Removal

- Remove the flywheel. For additional information, refer to FLYWHEEL in this service information.
Remove the 6 bolts and the crankshaft rear seal, discard the crankshaft rear seal.
- NOTE: Do not use metal scrapers, wire brushes, power abrasive discs or other abrasive means to clean the sealing surfaces. These tools cause scratches and gouges, which make leak paths. Use a plastic scraping tool to remove traces of sealant.
Clean and inspect the oil pan and cylinder block mating surfaces. Refer to RTV sealing surface cleaning and preparation in ENGINE MECHANICAL SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION .
