Pinpoint Test C: The Temperature Gauge Is Inoperative (Non-Hybrid)

  1. C1 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE PCM KOEO SELF-TEST 
    • Check for recorded PCM DTCs from the Key ON Engine OFF (KOEO) self-test.
    • Are any PCM DTCs recorded? 
    • Yes:  REFER to the INTRODUCTION article.
    • No:  GO to C2  .
  2. C2 CARRY OUT THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE ACTIVE COMMAND USING THE SCAN TOOL 
    • Ignition ON.
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: IC  DataLogger.
    • Select the IC  temperature gauge (ENGCOOLNT) active command. Command the temperature gauge to 50°C (122°F), 100°C (212°F) and 125°C (257°F) while monitoring the gauge.
    • Does the temperature gauge start at cold (C), move to the mid-range and end at full hot (H)? 
    • Yes:  GO to C3  .
    • No:  INSTALL a new IC  . REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (IC)  in this service information.

      TEST the system for normal operation.

  3. C3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE IC SELF-TEST 
    • Check for recorded IC  DTCs from the self-test.
    • Are any DTCs recorded?
