Pinpoint Test Ai: The Check Fuel Fill Inlet Message Is Inoperative/Always On

  1. AI1 CHECK THE MESSAGE CENTER OPERATION 
    • Close all doors, hood and liftgate.
    • Ignition ON.
    • Open the driver door while monitoring the message center displays.
    • Does the message center display DRIVER DOOR AJAR? 
  2. AI2 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE PCM KOEO SELF-TEST 
    • Check for recorded DTCs from the Key ON Engine OFF (KOEO) self-test.
    • Is DTC P0457 recorded? 
    • Yes:  If the CHECK FUEL FILL INLET message is always on, REFER to the appropriate Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) manual INTRODUCTION . If the CHECK FUEL FILL INLET message is inoperative, GO to AI3  .
    • No:  If the CHECK FUEL FILL INLET message is always on, INSTALL a new IPC  . REFER to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) . TEST the system for normal operation. If the CHECK FUEL FILL INLET message is inoperative the system is operating normally at this time. If the fuel inlet was open and the CHECK FUEL FILL INLET message did not turn on, driving conditions may not have allowed for the PCM to run the cruise test and message the IPC  to turn the CHECK FUEL FILL INLET message on.
  3. AI3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE IPC SELF-TEST 
    • Check for recorded IPC  DTCs from the self-test.
    • Are any DTCs recorded?
