Camshaft Roller Follower: Removal

    WARNING: Before servicing a vehicle equipped with a fire suppression system, depower the system by following the procedure in FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEM article. Failure to follow the instructions may result in serious personal injury.
  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING article.
  2. Remove the valve covers. For additional information, refer to Valve Cover - RH  or Valve Cover - LH .
  3. Position the piston of the cylinder being repaired at the bottom of the stroke.
  4. Install the Valve Spring Compressor Spacer between the valve spring coils to prevent valve stem seal damage.

  6. Using the Valve Spring Compressor, compress the valve springs and remove the camshaft roller followers.
