Seat Cushion - Front: Disassembly

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2009 Ford Mustang. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
WARNING: Install a new occupant classification sensor (OCS) system service kit as a complete assembly. Never install only part of the kit components. Failure to follow this instruction may result in incorrect operation of the OCS system and increases the risk of serious personal injury or death in a crash.
WARNING: Never probe the electrical connectors on air bag, safety canopy or side air curtain modules. Failure to follow this instruction may result in the accidental deployment of these modules, which increases the risk of serious personal injury or death.
CAUTION: To prevent system failure, it is necessary to carry out the occupant classification sensor (OCS) system reset when a front passenger seat cushion is disassembled, a new trim cover installed or an OCS system service kit is installed. A scan tool is used to carry out the OCS system reset command.
NOTE: OCS system components (seat cushion foam pad, bladder with pressure sensor and occupant classification system module (OCSM) module) are calibrated to each other and are serviced as an assembly. The OCS system components are not to be installed separately. If a new OCS system component or seat cushion foam pad are needed, a new OCS system service kit (seat cushion foam pad, bladder with pressure sensor, OCSM and seat wire harness) must be installed as an assembly.
NOTE: To identify between a production occupant classification sensor (OCS) system and a OCS system service kit, inspect the occupant classification system module (OCSM) electrical connector.

A production OCS system allows the disconnection of the OCSM electrical connector.

An OCS system service kit has the electrical connector glued to the OCSM, it cannot and should not be disconnected or altered.

NOTE: The air bag warning indicator illuminates when the restraints control module (RCM) fuse is removed and the ignition switch is ON. This is normal operation and does not indicate a supplemental restraint system (SRS) fault.
NOTE: When installing an occupant classification sensor (OCS) system service kit, refer to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM article for the OCS service kit installation procedure.
NOTE: If a driver or passenger seat cushion heater mat is faulty, a new seat cushion foam pad must be installed with the heater mat. Do not reuse the original seat cushion foam pad.

When installing an OCS service kit equipped with heated seats, a new cushion heater mat must be installed. Do not reuse the OEM OCS driver cushion heater mat. The OCS service kit does not come with a new cushion heater mat.

NOTE: The SRS must be fully operational and free of faults before releasing the vehicle to the customer.
