Removal And Installation

5.4L (4V) vehicles 

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING .
  2. 4.6L vehicles 

  3. Remove the Air Cleaner (ACL) outlet tube. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION AND FILTERING .
  4. All vehicles 

  5. Recover the refrigerant. For additional information, refer to CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION AND DIAGNOSTICS .
  6. Disconnect the compressor discharge fitting.
    • Discard the O-ring seals.
  7. Disconnect the dual-function pressure switch electrical connector and remove the dual-function pressure switch.
  8. Remove the condenser inlet fitting nut and disconnect the fitting.
    • Discard the O-ring seal.
    • To install, tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).
  9. Detach the compressor-to-condenser discharge line from the A/C line bracket.
  10. Remove the compressor-to-condenser discharge line.
  11. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  12. Evacuate, leak test and charge the refrigerant system. For additional information, refer to CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION AND DIAGNOSTICS .
