Normal Operation

The Restraints Control Module (RCM) monitors communication messages from the Occupant Classification System Module (OCSM) for an embedded vehicle identification. If the RCM  detects an unexpected condition or code from the OCSM  , it will store DTC C1414 in memory and send a message to the Instrument Cluster (IC) module to flash a Lamp Fault Code (LFC) 15 on the air bag warning indicator. After the LFCs  are displayed, the air bag warning indicator will remain illuminated for the rest of the ignition cycle.

• DTC C1414 (Incorrect Module Design Level) - If the RCM  detects software and hardwired VID combination that does not match at start-up, it will set this DTC.

  This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following: 

• Incorrect OCSM  for vehicle
• Incorrect RCM  for vehicle
