Normal Operation

The Occupant Classification System Module (OCSM) monitors internal circuitry, hardware and the 4 Occupant Classification Sensor (OCS) weight sensor bolts and circuitry for faults. If a fault is detected the OCSM  , will store DTC B1342 in memory and send a message to the Restraints Control Module (RCM). The RCM  will store DTC B2290 in memory and send a message to the Instrument Cluster (IC) module to illuminate the air bag warning indicator.

FAULT DESCRIPTION

Fault PIDs (1) Description Fault Trigger Condition
1342_27_OD and 1342_27_CM Memory Fault When the Occupant Classification System Module (OCSM) senses a internal hardware failure, a fault will be indicated.
1342_28_OD and 1342_28_CM Microcontroller Internal Fault When the OCSM  senses a internal failure, a fault will be indicated.
1342_29_OD and 1342_29_CM Satellite ASIC  Fault [Application-Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC)] When the OCSM  senses a internal hardware failure, a fault will be indicated.
1342_30_OD and 1342_30_CM Power Supply Internal Fault When the OCSM  senses a failure with the internal power supply, a fault will be indicated.
A short to ground on any of the OCS  weight sensor bolt PWR (VREF) circuits, can set this DTC.
(1) Fault PIDs that end in OD indicate an on-demand status and are associated with on-demand DTC B1342. Fault PIDs that end in CM indicate continuous memory status and are associated with continuous DTC B1342.
