Normal Operation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Ford Ranger. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

When the headlamp switch is in the PARKING LAMPS or HEADLAMPS ON position, ground is supplied to the parking lamp relay coil through the smart junction box (SJB). The parking lamp relay provides switched voltage to the instrument panel dimmer switch on circuit CBP01 (BU) from the smart junction box (SJB). The instrument panel dimmer switch provides a variable voltage to the instrument cluster and panel switches on circuit VLN18 (BU/WH).
