PINPOINT TEST D: DTCs C1095 AND C1096 - ABS HYDRAULIC PUMP MOTOR CIRCUIT FAILURE/OPEN

CAUTION: Use the Flex Probe Kit for all test connections to prevent damage to the wiring terminals. Do not use standard multi-meter probes.
  1. D1 CHECK THE ABS PUMP MOTOR  
    • Key in ON position.
    • Is the pump motor on constantly? 
    1. YES  : Go to  D4.
    2. NO  : Go to  D2.
  2. D2 CHECK CIRCUIT SBB17 (RD) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Module C135
    • Key in ON position.
    • Measure the voltage between ABS module C135-28, circuit SBB17 (RD), harness side and ground.
    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 
    1. YES  : Go to  D3.
    2. NO  : VERIFY battery junction box (BJB) fuse 17 (40A) is OK. If OK, REPAIR circuit SBB17 (RD). TEST the system for normal operation.
  3. D3 CHECK CIRCUIT GD122C (BK) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Measure the resistance between ABS module C135-18, circuit GD122C (BK), harness side and ground.
    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
    1. YES  : Go to  D4.
    2. NO  : REPAIR circuit GD122C (BK). TEST the system for normal operation.
  4. D4 CHECK FOR CORRECT ABS MODULE OPERATION 
    • Disconnect all ABS connectors.
    • Check for:
      • corrosion.
      • pushed-out pins.
      • spread terminals.
    • Connect all ABS connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present? 
    1. YES  : Go to  D5.
    2. NO  : The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test with the brake pedal not applied.
  5. D5 CHECK THE ABS PUMP MOTOR FOR CORRECT OPERATION 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Remove the ABS module. REFER to Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Module .
    • Fig 1: Connecting Fused (50A) Jumper Wire Between Positive Battery Terminal & Pump Motor Positive Terminal On HCU

    • Connect a fused (50A) jumper wire between the positive battery terminal and the pump motor positive terminal on the HCU. Momentarily connect a jumper wire between the negative battery terminal and the pump motor negative terminal on the HCU.
    • Does the ABS pump motor operate? 
    1. YES  : INSTALL a new ABS module. REFER to Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Module . After the repairs, CARRY OUT the self-test with the brake pedal not applied.
    2. NO  : INSTALL a new HCU assembly. REFER to Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) . CARRY OUT the self-test with the brake pedal not applied.
