Pinpoint Test D: No Power In Start

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Ford Ranger. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION: Use the Flex Probe Kit for all test connections to prevent damage to the wiring terminals. Do not use standard multi-meter probes.
  1. D1 CHECK THE STARTER OPERATION 
    • Key in START position.
    • Does the starter motor engage? 
    1. YES  : Go to  D2.
    2. NO  : INSTALL a new ignition switch. REFER to Ignition Switch . TEST the system for normal operation.
  2. D2 CHECK CIRCUITS CDC35 (BU/WH) AND CDC34 (WH/OG) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: Ignition Switch C250
    • Disconnect: SJB C2280b
    • Measure the resistance between:
      • ignition switch C250-5, circuit CDC35 (BU/WH), harness side and SJB C2280b-11, circuit CDC35 (BU/WH), harness side.
      • ignition switch C250-1, circuit CDC34 (WH/OG), harness side and SJB C2280b-29, circuit CDC34 (WH/OG), harness side.
    • Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms? 
    1. YES  : REPAIR the affected circuit(s). TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. NO  : Go to  D3.
  3. D3 CHECK THE IGNITION SWITCH 
    • Carry out the ignition switch component test Refer to Component Tests .
    • Is the ignition switch OK ? 
    1. YES  : VERIFY all SJB fuses are OK. If not OK, REPAIR as necessary. If OK, INSTALL a new SJB, REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES .
    2. NO  : INSTALL a new ignition switch. REFER to Ignition Switch . TEST the system for normal operation.
