Pinpoint Test Ab: DTC B1363 - Ignition Start Circuit Fault

- AB1 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM BOTH THE CONTINUOUS AND ON-DEMAND INSTRUMENT CLUSTER SELF-TESTS
- Retrieve the recorded DTCs from the instrument cluster continuous and on-demand self-tests.
- Is DTC B1363 retrieved?
- YES : CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-tests. If DTC U1363 is retrieved again, go to AB2 .
- NO : The system is operating normally at this time. The concern may have been caused by the ignition switch left too long in the start position.
- AB2 MONITOR SMART JUNCTION BOX (SJB) IGNITION SWITCH POSITION PIDs
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: Monitor SJB PIDs
- Select and monitor the ignition switch SJB PIDs while moving the ignition switch from run to start.
- Do the PID values match the ignition switch position?
- YES : Go to AB3.
- NO : REFER to STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES to diagnose the ignition switch inputs to the SJB.
- AB3 CHECK FOR CORRECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER OPERATION
- Disconnect all the instrument cluster connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- damaged pins
- pushed-out pins
- Connect all the instrument cluster connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
- YES : INSTALL a new instrument cluster. REFER to Instrument Cluster (IC) . TEST the system for normal operation.
- NO : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
