    NOTE: Slight turning of the clockspring rotor is allowable for alignment purposes to the steering column.

  1. Install the clockspring onto the steering column.
    • With the flats of the clockspring aligned to the flats of the steering column, slide the clockspring onto the steering column.
    • Engage the upper and side retaining tabs.
    • Attach the key-in-ignition warning indicator switch to the lock cylinder housing.
  2. Engage the lower clockspring retaining clip.

  3. Install the clockspring electrical connectors.

    • Install the bolt.
    • Connect the electrical connector. Install the pin-type retainer and electrical connector to the bracket.
    • Connect the electrical connector. Install the pin-type retainer and electrical connector to the bracket.
  4. Attach the clockspring wire harness to the wiring retainer.
  5. Reposition the upper steering column shroud.
  6. Position the lower steering column shroud and install the 3 screws.
  7. Install the tilt wheel handle and shank.
  8. Position the steering column opening finish panel reinforcement and install the 4 bolts.
    • Tighten to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft).
  9. Align the lower steering column opening finish panel and push in, seating the retaining clips. Then install the 2 screws.
  10. Position the hood release handle. Install the 2 screws.
  11. Install the ignition lock cylinder. For additional information, refer to HANDLES, LOCKS, LATCHES AND ENTRY SYSTEMS article.
  12. NOTE: Make sure the wheels are in the straight-ahead position.
  13. Install the steering wheel. For additional information, refer to STEERING COLUMN article.
  14. Install the driver air bag module. For additional information, refer to Driver Air Bag Module  in this article.
  15. Repower the system. For additional information, refer to Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering and Repowering  in the General Procedures portion of this section.
