All seats

  1. Remove the affected seat. For additional information, refer to Seat - Front  in this article.
  2. Remove the seat back adjusting handle screw and handle.


  1. Remove the 2 side shield screws.
  2. Pull out on the side and the rear of the side shield to detach the 2 clips (1 shown).

  3. Release the inboard side rear hook-and-loop strip.

  4. Release the inboard side bottom J-clip for access to the safety belt buckle pretensioner.

  5. NOTE: Note the routing of the wire harness through the seat for installation.
    NOTE: Passenger seat shown, driver seat similar.

  6. Detach the pin-type retainers and safety belt buckle pretensioner wire harness from the seat cushion pan.
    • For driver seat, disconnect the seat position electrical connector.
    • For passenger seat, disconnect the safety belt buckle pretensioner electrical connector.
  7. Remove the safety belt buckle pretensioner nut and remove the safety belt buckle pretensioner and wire harness.
  8. Remove the outboard rear pin-type retainer and position the material to the side.

  9. Disconnect the outboard seat back latch release cable end.
    • Detach the cable from its anchor point.
    • Swivel the cable end and remove from the latch retainer.

    • Position the cable aside.
  10. Disconnect the inboard seat back latch release cable end.
    • Detach the cable from its anchor point.
    • Swivel the cable end and remove from the latch retainer.

    • Position the cable aside.
  11. Remove the 2 inboard seat backrest-to-cushion bolts.
  12. Remove the 2 outboard seat backrest-to-cushion bolts.
  13. NOTE: If equipped, note position of the lumbar cable where it comes through the seat cushion.
  14. Remove the backrest assembly.
