All seats

  1. Install the backrest assembly.
  2. Install the 2 outboard seat backrest-to-cushion bolts.
    • Tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
  3. Install the 2 inboard seat backrest-to-cushion bolts.
    • Tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
  4. Install the inboard seat backrest latch release cable.

    • Position the seat back latch release cable.
    • Install the seat back latch release cable end and swivel the cable.
    • Attach the cable at its anchor point.
  5. Install the outboard seat backrest latch release cable.

    • Position the cable.
    • Install the seat backrest latch release cable end and swivel the cable.
    • Attach the cable to its anchor point.
  6. Position the material and install the outboard pin-type retainer.

  7. Install the safety belt buckle pretensioner and install the safety belt buckle pretensioner nut.
    • Tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
  8. Route the safety belt buckle pretensioner wire harness and install the pin-type retainers.

    • For driver seat, connect the seat position electrical connector.
    • For passenger seat, connect the safety belt buckle pretensioner electrical connector.
  9. Install the safety belt buckle pretensioner cover and install the screw.
  10. Attach the inboard side J-clip.

  11. Fasten the inboard side rear hook-and-loop strip.

  12. Position the side shield and install the 2 clips (1 shown).

  13. Install the 2 front side shield screws.


  1. Install the seat backrest recliner handle and screw.
  2. Install the seat. If a passenger seat has been serviced, do not prove out the SRS at this time.  For additional information, refer to front seat Seat - Front  in this article.


  1. Prove out the SRS as follows:

    Turn the ignition key from ON to OFF. Wait 10 seconds, then turn the key back to ON and visually monitor the air bag warning indicator with the air bag modules installed. The air bag warning indicator will light continuously for approximately 6 seconds and then turn off. If an SRS fault is present, the air bag warning indicator will:

    - fail to light.

    - remain lit continuously.

    - flash at a 5Hz rate (RCM not configured).

    The air bag warning indicator may not illuminate until approximately 30 seconds after the ignition switch has been turned from the OFF to the ON position. This is the time required for the RCM to complete the testing of the SRS. If the air bag warning indicator is inoperative and a SRS fault exists, a chime will sound in a pattern of 5 sets of 5 beeps. If this occurs, the air bag warning indicator and any SRS fault discovered must be diagnosed and repaired.

    Clear all continuous RCM and occupant classification system module (OCSM) DTCs using a scan tool.
