Input Shaft Bearing: Disassembly

  1. Inspect the input shaft bearing for wear or damage.
  2. CAUTION: To prevent damage, inspect the surface of the input shaft in the area of the bearing race to make sure it is smooth and free of burrs.
  3. Inspect the input shaft for damage or wear. For additional information, refer to MANUAL TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION AND CLUTCH - GENERAL INFORMATION article.
  4. Remove and discard the front bearing oil scoop ring.

  5. CAUTION: Hold the input shaft so it does not fall.
    NOTE: Remove the input shaft bearing only if installing a new one.

  6. Using the special tool, press the input shaft bearing from the input shaft.
